About Us
The Alpen Classica Festival is the first cross-border festival for classical music in the Euregio Trentino-South Tyrol-Tyrol and has been held annually since 2016.
The concept
In 2016, a festival involving all three regions of the Euregio – Trentino, South Tyrol and Tyrol – was organised for the first time.
The Alpen Classica Festival is divided into two main areas: on the one hand, advanced training courses open to all musicians and, on the other, concerts taking place at various locations in the Euregio.
Chamber music, courses for string and wind instruments and workshops form the centrepiece of the project, which is aimed in particular at promoting young talent from the region. Participants are given the opportunity to further their education by working with professional musicians from the Euregio and to come into contact with internationally renowned artists.
In addition to its educational focus, the festival makes a significant contribution to the cultural enhancement of the Euregio. It not only highlights the high artistic and musical level of the region, but also puts its scenic diversity and centuries-old musical tradition centre stage.
Education Programme
As part of the festival, free concerts are also organised for children by musicians with a wealth of experience and an inclusive approach to music.
The young generation and the festival
General Objectives
The overall aim of the festival is to create an international forum for classical music that also enhances those regions in which high-calibre music culture has had little presence to date. At the same time, it should offer musicians the opportunity to broaden their cultural horizons.
The artistic and personal development of young talents takes centre stage: by imparting new knowledge, their eyes are opened to different musical perspectives – a valuable contribution to their future in the euroregional music area.
In addition to its artistic and educational aspirations, the festival also makes a significant contribution to enhancing tourism in the three Euregio regions – particularly in those valleys that have previously been less culturally prominent than urban centres. In this way, the festival not only invests in music and its talents, but also in the cultural and scenic potential of this unique border region.
Social Aspects
In addition, the festival also offers a range of other concerts and events. These aim to bring music into environments such as retirement homes to enable people who are less mobile to enjoy excellent music and the atmosphere of the festival live.
Tourism and cultural identity
The valleys in which the festival takes place have great touristic and cultural potential in addition to being suitable venues. Their impressive landscape and numerous artistic and architectural treasures make them attractive for locals and tourists alike.
