Revensch is a formation of saxophonist and singer Helga Plankensteiner
with three wind instruments, saxophone trumpet and trombone, piano and
drums, which performs a repertoire of Dixieland, klezmer and chanson from the 1920s
. Among others, pieces such as Brecht/Weill’s Moritat, Charlie
Chaplin’s Smile, pieces from the repertoire of Marlene Dietrich and some
original pieces are performed. The group has already performed at various jazz festivals
such as GardaJazz, Dolomitiskijazz, Most&Jazz, Percfest, Murszene Graz, Lana Me

Helga Plankensteiner studied classical saxophone at the conservatory in
Innsbruck with Florian Bramböck and jazz saxophone at the conservatory in Trento.
She has performed with the Carla Bley Bigband (USA), the Torino Jazz Orchestra with soloists
such as Tom Harrell, Dusko Goykovich, Valery Ponomarev, Francesco Cafiso and Uri
Caine, the Dani Felber Bigband (CH) and the Italian Sax Ensemble. She also
conducts the orchestra ‘SWEET ALPS’ with soloists such as Gianluigi Trovesi, Florian
Bramböck, Michel Godard, Gianluca Petrella and Matthias Schriefl. In 1999 she was named one of the ten best new talents by the magazine Musica Jazz
.
Her current projects are Fifth Side, an international women’s group with Francesca Hart and Ilona Damiencka, El Porcino Organic with Mauro Ottolini, Paolo
Mappa and Michael Lösch, Helga Plankensteiner Quintet, a tribute to Frida
Kahlo, and PLANKTON, a sextet with Matthias Schriefl, Gerhard Gschlößl, Enrico
Terragnoli, Nelide Bandello and Michael Lösch.
