The name Rhythmos has its roots in Greek etymology and reminds
not only of the concept of rhythm as a mere scaling of time, but also
of the idea of a form in constant becoming, of a flowing movement and of
, which is constantly renewing itself. This principle guides the artistic path
of Trio Rhythmos, a formation formed at the
‘F. Cilea’ conservatory in Reggio Calabria under the direction of maestros Massimiliano
Girardi, Sandro Tani and Pierluigi Marotta.
The trio, consisting of Maria Condò (piano), Vincenzo Martorello
(saxophone) and Ruggero Capalbo (saxophone), is characterised by its
dynamic vision of the chamber music repertoire. It offers arrangements of historically established works
and new compositions
created in collaboration with contemporary composers. Since its beginnings
it has received its first awards, including first prize
Absolute at the San Valentino International Prize (Belvedere Marittimo)
and at the A. Vivaldi International Competition (Sapri). At the same time, the trio
has enriched its artistic career with performances in venues such as
the Auditorium ‘Carlo Pisacane’ in Sapri, the Auditorium Umberto Zanotti
Bianco in Reggio Calabria, the Museo del Mare in Belvedere Marittimo and
the Church of San Francesco D’Assisi in Gerace (RC).
