Milesmood was created for the festival “I Suoni delle Dolomiti” as a tribute to Miles Davis, following a collaboration between the New Project Orchestra’s horn section and the trumpeter Fabrizio Bosso. The project combines the power of the big band with the tradition of New Orleans marching bands and the rhythms of funk, thereby creating an energetic and contemporary musical language. Just as Miles Davis traversed various orchestral eras, exploring the potential of the large ensemble and of far-reaching, multi-layered composition, so Milesmood creates a rich, dynamic and powerful musical fabric in which the wind section becomes a living entity in constant flux. At the heart of this sonic universe lies the interplay between the two trumpets and the saxophone section, supported by the low brass (trombone and sousaphone). In the tradition of Davis, the trumpet is not merely a solo voice, but also the leader of expression and the catalyst for collective energy: it enters into dialogue with the ensemble, stimulates it, ignites it and keeps it in suspense, thereby transforming each piece into a musical organism in constant motion.
