PRELIMINARY PROGRAM

1. J.S. Bach, Suite No. 1, Prelude (with any saxophone, in any key)

2. Jeanine Rueff, Sonata, (2nd and 3rd movements), alto saxophone solo. The two movements must be played consecutively in one continuous video.

The two videos must be uploaded to the YouTube platform in private mode, with a minimum resolution of 640x480 pixels, and the link should be sent along with the application.

The name of the video should read as follows:

Video 1: First Name, Last Name, Rueff

Video 2: First Name, Last Name, Bach

Videos must be shot with a fixed camera, and the candidate must be fully visible at all times.

No editing will be allowed.

The candidate may not publicly release the videos, under penalty of exclusion from the competition

The videos will be the property of the association until the end of the contest.

 

 

SEMIFINAL 

Twelve (12) candidates will be selected to participate in the semifinal round. 

 

1. A piece for solo saxophone chosen by the candidate from the following list:

2. A piece for saxophone and piano chosen by the candidate from the following two pieces:

Paul Creston, Sonata for Alto saxophone and Piano 

Alfred Desenclos, Prelude, Cadence et Finale

 

3. A piece for saxophone and piano chosen by the candidate from the following:

William Albright: Sonata for Alto Saxophone and Piano  

Edison Denisov: Sonata for Alto Saxophone and Piano

 

 

FINAL

Five (5) candidates will be chosen to participate in the final round.

 

The final consists of the performance of the following two pieces:

Alexander Glazunov: Saxophone Concerto op.109 (with string orchestra).

A piece for solo saxophone, composed for the competition and delivered on September 16th, 2024.
