Carolin Ralser studied Music Performance (flute), Music Education, Chamber music and Contemporary music at the Universities of Music and Performing Arts of Graz, Vienna, Freiburg i.Br. and Frankfurt a. Main, where she studied with Dieter Flury (Principal flute, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra), Felix Renggli, Thaddeus Watson (Principal Piccolo HR Orchestra Frankfurt) und Dietmar Wiesner (Ensemble Modern) and completed her master studies with distinction.
Carolin was 1st prize winner at the International Flute Competition Friedrich Kuhlau and received various grants and scholarships, i.e. from the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the International Ensemble Modern Academy 2011/12 in Frankfurt/Main. Performances and Concerts at festivals and concert series such as Salzburger Festspiele, Attergau Music Festival, ROT – Festival für aktuelle Musik and audio Art, cresc… Biennale Frankfurt a.M, Transart Festival Bolzano, Klangspuren Schwaz, Manifeste festival at IRCAM Paris, ITYCP Hongkong, Darmstädter Ferienkurse für Neue Musik, Festival Royaumont, HöRBAR! Tag der Neuen Musik,et al.. Her deep interest in contemporary and experimental music was raised by numerous master classes, among them the Ensemble recherche, the Klangforum Wien and the Ensemble Modern. She was Principal flute player of the Guiyang Symphony orchestra in 2012-13, and currently works as a member and guest musician in various orchestras and ensembles such as the Ensemble Modern Frankfurt. Carolin is founding member of chromoson, an ensemble dedicated to the generation and promotion of contemporary music and art, as well as the Austrian - Hong Kong Composers Connection. In the field of education Carolin specializes in contemporary music for young players and audiences, composing contemporary pieces for children and giving also lectures and workshops on teaching contemporary music, improvisation and elementary composing. Carolin has been Lecturer at the University Mozarteum Salzburg/Innsbruck, coaching contemporary music ensembles. She is currently faculty member of the School of the Arts Singapore, artist faculty at Yong Siew Conservatory and flute tutor at the University of Singapore.
