Martin Yavryan was born in Yerevan (Armenia) in 1983 and received his first violin lessons at the age of seven. He began his studies in 1999 at the Komitas State Conservatory in Yerevan with Prof. Artasches Mkrtchyan. In 2003 he continued his studies in Germany - first with Prof. Rainer Kussmaul at the Musikhochschule Freiburg, followed by solo-studies at the Musikhochschule Trossingen with Prof. Christian Ostertag. He attended numerous master classes, among others with Maria Egelhof, Tibor Varga, Zachar Bron and Kolja Blacher. Martin Yavryan pursues an active concert career at home and abroad and has played as a soloist with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Rhineland-Palatinate, the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra, the SWD Chamber Orchestra of Pforzheim, the Philharmonic Orchestra of the State of Bashkortostan (Russia), the Pohang Symphony Orchestra (South Korea) and the Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra of Innsbruck, among others. Furthermore, Martin Yavryan has an intense activity also with chamber music groups. He was a member of various string quartets and founded the "Arev" string quartet during the Verbier Festival in 2005. Since 2012, he has performed regularly with the Cedag String Quartet. He has made recordings for Radio Berlin, Radio Swiss Romande, Bayerischer Rundfunk and ORF Tirol. Martin Yavryan was awarded 1st prize at the International Khachaturian Violin Competition. He is also a laureate of the International Violin Competition Freiburg and the International Violin Competitions Yfrah Neaman, Kloster Schöntal and Ludwig Spohr. In 2006 he was awarded with the Prize of the Armenian President in Instrumental Music. From 2007 until 2010 he won a sholarship of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.  His career as an orchestral musician began in 2004 as a member of the Verbier and Lucerne Festival Orchestras, followed by engagements with the SWR Baden-Baden and Freiburg Symphony Orchestra and as concertmaster in the SWD Chamber Orchestra Pforzheim. Since 2010 Martin Yavryan has been concertmaster of the Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra Innsbruck.
