POSTCARDS - Duo Granato - Opening concert

Thursday, 22 July - 21.00

The programme includes pieces of different character, all united by the aspect of strong contamination. The music that will be performed is the result of the great influence that different characters and musical styles have had on composers. Schulhoff, a pupil of C. Debussy, combines impressionist harmonies with the roaring jazz of his years. M. De Falla, combines popular music or traditional Spanish lullabies, with a strictly rigorous compositional style. This piece, originally for voice and orchestra, is re-proposed for saxophone and piano in a new arrangement. A. Piazzolla combines the Latin and "tanguero" spirit with an eclectic compositional style. The most intimate pieces of the Argentine composer are presented. Meditango and Adios Nonino invite not only to a pleasant summer listening, but also to meditation. In particular, Adios Nonino is Piazzolla's musical response to a great mourning. Nino Rota is often thrown into the cauldron along with other composers who have only written music for the cinema. Rota, however, was able to write great orchestral and chamber music. To conclude the evening, we present his most famous melodies from Fellini's films.
